About Me

  • What is your name?

Nao Sirius.

  • What do you do when you’re not writing?

I am an Aerospace Engineer.  Yes, I actually am a rocket scientist.

  • What is the motivation behind this blog?

In 2015, I was selected as one of the top 12 finalist in the competition called The Next MacGyver.  Keep scrolling down, you’ll find me.  The purpose of this competition was to create a TV pilot idea to inspire and encourage more women to pursue STEM, especially engineering.  I had a lot of fun creating a universe for my pilot pitch, that I am working turning it into my first Science Fiction novel.  I will be posting updates on my writing, as well as occassional short stories here.

In addition, I will be posting my own reviews and comments on (mostly) Science Fiction / Fantasy TV shows and movies.  This will be my way to encourage more people to watch the shows I found to be very enjoyable.

  • Why did you decide to enter in the competition in the first place?

I love reading, and watching TV shows and movies.  The genre I am most drawn to is Science Fiction and Fantasy.  I started to notice was that the main characters in the well-known Science Fiction and Fantasy universes are predominantly male.  That’s cool and all, but it’s about time we had more stories about female characters.  I have also experienced the gender disparity in STEM field firsthand, and am passionate about inspiring more women to pursue STEM.
